As you all know, Charlie Wedemeyer, my precious husband was diagnosed with ALS at the age of 30 and told he had about a year to live! Praise God, he lived 34 years!! I am hugely impressed and encouraged by all that The ALS Association Golden West Chapter is doing here in California and in Hawaii!! We understand the ravages of this horrific death sentence!! Back then, there was no support. No one to call! Few Doctors knew anything about ALS! We were blindsided and felt disconnected from life. Our lives were abruptly turned upside down

ABOUT ALS 

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. 

ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need.
