The day I heard the words, “you have ALS” changed my life forever!
My identity changed in an instant. I went from being at the top of my career as an executive producer to a person living with ALS.
I spent my career working behind the camera as an executive producer and today I am a person living with ALS stepping in front of the camera to raise awareness and funding to bring our community together and work to defeat ALS.
March of 2021, my symptoms began with weakness in my left arm, and it wasn’t until November, that I realized something was wrong. However, I continued my life as I knew it. It took me 6 months before I was able to share my diagnosis with colleagues at Intuitive which at the time was one of the hardest things I’d had to do.
That decision to share was a difficult one as once it’s spoken … there was no going back…this closed doors to my future personal and career goals but in return it has also opened my heart to my new ALS community and opportunities to make a difference. I will continue this mission so the future generations my not endure the same level of suffering this disease brings.
That’s why I’m walking. To change the statistics. To bring help and hope to those living with the disease. To ensure that no one ever hears the words: “You Have ALS” again.
The past two years have brought incredible advancements in ALS research, expanded access to care for people living with ALS, and enabled legislation that impacts the quality of life of people with ALS and their families.
