2023 Hawaii Walk to Defeat ALS

Vidinha Ohana ALS Challenge

Aloha family and friends!

In honor of our dear Dad, Steven Vidinha, please come join us for the Annual Walk to Defeat ALS on Saturday, September 30! This is an exciting opportunity for us to work together to support those affected by Lou Gehrig's Disease and to spread awareness of the urgency to find treatments and a cure.

Please consider walking virtually, or sponsoring me. With your help, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of people affected by this disease.

This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease though support is bringing researchers closer to an answer. In the mean time it costs an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join our walk today.

In November 2015, Dad became diagnosed with this crippling disease.  The doctor only gave him 6 months. But like the warrior he was, he fought it for a good long 19 months!  He left his mark on the fight to the cure.  And so we do the same, for him.

Please go to my website link to register and get involved!

And for those of you involved in the Blue Zones Project at work or in your community, here's a moai for you!

God bless you all,

Beverly Ann Vidinha Ikalani

WHY WE WALK - WE NEED YOUR HELP

Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.

That’s why we’re participating in the Walk to Defeat ALS®. To bring hope. To raise awareness. To provide resources and services to families free of charge. To help unlock the mystery of ALS and find the key to effective treatments and cures. Please join us.

ABOUT ALS

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.

ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need.

Please click on JOIN THE TEAM above to join us on event day or as a virtual participant. Or please donate by selecting a team member listed on our Team Roster to the right.

Join the movement to provide help and hope today!

With our heartfelt gratitude and aloha,

Dorothy, Barbara, Beverly, Keola, Drake, Lalea, Kama, Daphne & Marcus
