WHY WE WALK

For Richard life was a celebration best shared with family and friends.  He faced the challenge of being a person with ALS with a resilience that left those who loved him and those who cared for him awestruck.  He also was given the gift of being able to share with many of you his moments of fear and loss.  I am forever grateful for the support given by you to Richard and our family.  

I ask you to donate to Team RiZe Up as we walk in Richard's memory to bring closer his vision of a cure and ensure the ongoing work of the Golden West Chapter in bringing vital assistance to persons with ALS and their caregivers.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis. 

ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need.
